The exploded view is back
A camera lens that comes apart into labelled glass and rings passed three million views, and now jet engines, fans, teeth and houses are coming apart the same way.
Two weeks into the wave of explainer videos made with Claude Opus 5.5, one shot keeps coming back: the exploded view. The biggest is Ryan Sael's lens lab. A camera lens floats apart into its glass elements, and you can move the focus ring to watch them shift. It passed 3.2 million views. Since then people have taken apart a turbofan (117,000 views on 2 October), an electric fan, a tooth and a Taj Mahal. One creator made a cutaway eye "after all the how a camera works one-shots".
Why it works
An exploded view shows that something has an inside, and then shows it to you in order. The parts slide out along one line, a label grows out to each one, and they click back together. You learn how the thing is built without a single cut.
How this ingredient gives it to you
Exploded View is that whole move on a seamless eight-second loop. The default is a fast camera lens with coated glass, a rubber focus ring, a red ring and a chrome mount. Its nine aperture blades close as it opens up. Switch Object to a Loudspeaker driver, or set How far apart, Part delay and Snap (how much each part pulls in and settles). You can also turn off Part labels, write your own Title, pick a Camera angle and choose the Backdrop, Label colour and Accent colour. The four presets are a dark studio, a blueprint, a white product shot and a speaker teardown. End on Kinetic Title Reveal with your product name.
One limitation
Parts only move along one straight line, so a lens, a speaker or an engine works, but a phone or a shoe would need its own directions. The part names are fixed unless you edit the code.
